The Truth Ian Anderson’s awards
Ian appreciates recognition but awards didn’t change genuine feelings of inadequacy and he never measured up to a fear of others’ expectations. That mysterious standard of, “What makes one worthy in a culture of seeming unachievable standards ?… the self-righteous critic and tall poppy imposter syndrome” was ever-present.
Initially, Ian lacked the confidence and knowledge to convert recognition into financial reward and afford the dream lifestyle, as a professional artist against the common opinion, “Artists don’t make money before they die”.
Wanting recognition with a confused purpose identity and screwed economic values make these awards portray more glamor than the inner turmoil Ian had constantly lived …. until the lights went on … put God first and everything else will make sense.
Today, Ian gratefully acknowledges these awards as small highlights in his journey to the light.
Ian has some words of advice.
- No matter how hard it seems on your journey, persevere with your dream, and never give up on something less than your heart’s desire.
- Always practice and never stop learning by choosing wise advisers/coaches who have your best interest at heart.
- Ask questions of your peers and never assume you know it all. Remain teachable.
- Seek and keep encouraging friends who are youthfully optimistic and support your dream.
- Run from dream stealers and whatever happens, never let bitterness settle in your thinking. Forgive and get onto your dream.
- The supernatural world is more real than the natural influencing every part of creative life.
- Don’t become ashamed to ask for help when all else fails. Eventually, it leads to a greater you than you may expect.
One last point … but this should be the first … Ask for God’s help.
Ian, unashamed involves Jesus in all he does. If it was not for the inspiration and partnership of His Spirit he would not have found peace, pleasure, and purpose in his unique life and works.
If you follow these pointers you will most definitely create a good life for yourself, your progeny, and society.
