Little turd’s Ecology Compost Poem
From long-legged hungry birds
Fall to the ground
Unwanted droppings

Crap
Little turd’s

Ecology

Little turd’s full of life unseen
Breakdown and supply a bean

Bean grows

Long-stemmed plant births a flower
Kissed by the breeze every hour
Oxygen is dispersed in the air
A life cycle designed to care

Flower dies and becomes a pod

More beans made by God

Take a peck, hungry bird
Swallow whole
And make a turd

THE STORY:

One day, I was looking at the compost in my garden, and a trail of thoughts began to form — about ecology, the living cycle, and how everything works together to produce our food. When I noticed how a simple catalyst (yes, a bird turd!) kick-started the frenzy of microorganisms breaking everything down, the humour of it struck me. A turd from a bird — and suddenly, the poem was born.

There’s so much wonder around us that it amazes me people get bored. That must be an attitude gone wrong. While microorganisms quietly work for my benefit, beans are growing in the garden, a doctor in Africa is saving a child’s life, and a spacecraft — fuelled by Earth’s resources — is orbiting Neptune, sending back new discoveries.

Life is rich beyond words. Wow!

Then I thought of those so poisoned by bitterness that they kill in the name of God.

As sincere as they may be, they’ve missed the point entirely.

Even they rely on those tiny bird droppings and the microorganisms they spark — the very systems that feed them long enough to stay angry.

Thanks to Him:

Thank God there truly is a God — one who loves His creation and takes joy in those who explore the mysteries and delights of the life He’s given us. And yes… more little turds, please! They keep this artist alive, able to praise God and create more artwork for homes and offices around the world.

A single “turd-inspired” piece hanging on a wall in Sydney, New York, London, Moscow, or Melbourne might just remind someone that we all depend on countless unseen forces working quietly beneath our lives. It’s a humble, humorous reminder of how wonderfully connected everything really is.
