POEM:
This God light stirs within me
Strong emotions of the divine
On the edge of the universe
Somewhere out of time
Reflections in the water
Massaging the gentle sand
This is some work of the master
From the creative in His hand
In every echo I see
Eyes wide open
Feelings deep within my heart
Timeout to rest
Dining à la carte
To drink in this life
From hatred I must depart
The colours
The actions
The birds in the air
The oxygen breathed
The breeze in my hair
All kissed by my lover’s hand
From the God of Gods
His signature
Written with purpose

Within the grains of sand
THE STORY:
I heard an American photographer describing the sunlight radiating from behind the clouds as “The God Light” and I immediately understood what he meant.
The mystery of the ages is still something that resides in the human spirit. When I researched through my West Australian and New Zealand photo library, many images had this theme. As I worked them into a joint piece of art, a story started to emerge and so a new poem was born. I wanted to express this moment of contemplation about my pleasures discovered in the spirit. As a result, there was the gratitude I wanted to give back to the divine for His wonder and magnificence that is way beyond my comprehension.
There are 4 images stitched together to highlight the poem. The black back gulls came from a project I photographed many years ago. If you want to know why they are so striking with color send me a text or email and I will post the story.

PROCESS
Poem typed on an iPhone, photographed with a Canon 5D Mark 1 and edited on a Mac G5 in Photoshop CS4. The photo collage of 4 images from Peppermint Grove, West Australia, Omaha Beach, New Zealand, Black Back Gulls at Mahurangi West, New Zealand and the clouds courtesy of God somewhere on the planet. Where I do not remember. Printed on fine-weave, primed canvas for long life integrity. Stretch mounted proud on and protected with UV varnish.
