Gifted by a sovereign hand

THE STORY 

The Bible’s creation story inspired this leather carving.

This work will herald another discovery for me. With attention to detail, this leather art will be a physically demanding challenge. The construction, constant carving, beveling, and dying will be something I estimate to take over 200 hours. “I plan to develop new colour techniques, and fresh ideas will come through in the process.”

I am indebted to God’s legacy in Jesus for such an opportunity to create as I do. Here is a further chance to discover what I am capable of when guided by practical wisdom and His inspiration. Who knows what marks my gifts will leave?

Indigenous representation

Represented in parts of the story will be Indigenous art from Australia, North America, New Zealand, and possibly Asia. We are all in this together, and my passion is to gather and record the storytelling of different cultures to speak about the goodness of God. God has given this world to us to have wise and caring dominion over, and He has given us the manufacturer’s instruction book. It works if we care to apply and agree with the mysteries He says are the road map to life.

Our collective conscience wonders at creation and the mystery of its raw natural beauty. No culture has escaped the awe. God said that what He made was all good. He loved and enjoyed what He made to be good, and it is His joy to share it with us.

An exhortation

God has given us a beautiful world to live and play in, and this is my exhortation. “Don’t get so busy building your empire that you forget to stop and appreciate the wonder of humanity that God has put before your eyes”. Jesus has the key to ‘God is good – All the time’. To see this, you must be born again. The new covenant love (ratified in the courts of heaven), heralded throughout the nations and culture, will inspire you to understand this glory. The powers controlling darkness are defeated. Forgiveness, mercy, and grace flow freely to anyone accepting God’s story. Creation sings a new tune under the supernatural intervention of love.

I offer this to you, who with open hearts want to hear and want to take to the nations and cultures, His wonderful story of redemption. When impurities are washed, creation is seen with new eyes, life becomes more breathtaking, and hope replaces hopelessness.

My story

I have learned more than some, and need to know a lot more from others as God takes me on this wonderful journey. From out of darkness into the light of His presence, peace in my heart, love, and mercy in my actions, and helping others find their way is a privilege. Watching His spirit heal a broken world is awesome. Even animals appreciate the conversion of cruel hearts into ones that care. Let the enemy of all goodness be exposed and shamed. Let those who seek mercy and forgiveness find it, without fear and recrimination. The continual beauty and wonder are already available to all.

Leather dyes and acrylics on hand-carved cow leather. Coachline oils are the preferred protection treatment.  This seals moisture content in the leather and keeps it looking fresh. The leatherwork is varnished for further protection. It is mounted on a special feature of large particleboard and displayed proudly on 6 mm PSP Alucosign over powder-coated stainless steel tubing.
