Full Description

I WILL DANCE WITH THE JOY OF MY FATHER  Herons surreal flight photoart

In the eyes of others
A dream
A treasure
A passion
All are exalted

A Heron’s surreal flight, in “I Will Dance in the Joy of My Father” is inspired by an idea about dreams, visions, and good desires. These personal achievements become moments of joy and excitement that are further enjoyable when others see them.

The Experience

I was videoing friends windsurfing at Rangiputa, Kari Kari Peninsula, Northland, New Zealand when the strong guttural sounds of Herons caught my attention. The sounds in the Macrocarpa tree above challenged my dedication to the task at hand. I observed the Heron’s antics. It was what I saw that caused me to realize I had a new story. In the strong wind, they seemed to be playing games in air currents and then landing for periods of rest. That was it, I must satisfy my want to capture these images. Herons surreal flight photoart

Later I would do some research to discover what their behavior was.

I saw the pleasure they were experiencing. It seemed that the life they were showing was reflecting the glory God had placed in their character. I became hooked. After a series of photos, this story begged to find a surreal edge.

The surreal edge

Surreal oil painting Heron’s flight needed expressions of protection and delight created in the image. Something like when a child plays securely under a father’s watchful eye. You will know what I mean if you have experienced this emotion.

Do you remember when you first noticed, your natural father or your heavenly father’s joy* is enjoying you? The delight of seeing a son or daughter playing with such childlike abandon in the growth of a dream is contagious. Herons surreal flight photoart

* PS. Many have never experienced emotional joy. Ian is sensitive to your pain but he says this, there is hope. Believe him. He now lives free from confusion, bitterness, suicide, unforgiveness, rejection, sexual and substance abuse, depression, hopelessness, and homelessness.

Creative choices

I chose the idea of the pillar from this thought. Any person who builds their faith upon the wisdom from heaven can only dance with joy when they discover the freedom in knowing the truth in these words, “I love you and get great pleasure out of seeing you enjoy what I have given you to enjoy”. The heart of a true father’s affection for His offspring is seen in the pillars of truth. Forgiveness, mercy, and life everlasting.

This development went further into the beginning of my life I became inspired to tell the story about it. I don’t know about you, but the pleasure I received by taking time out to see, show the life story before me, and consider the wonder of creation, left me in awe and a deep expression of gratitude and love welled up for God my father. I love Him without shame and when I see such amazing creativity in life I can only love Him for such wonder. It is true when you set your mind upon what is pure and holy, not on the negative press, your spirit will have a continuous feast and dance with joy. Guard over the thoughts of your heart … this is one of the pillars of heaven.

I have developed research into indigenous art and storytelling of The Australian Aboriginal and New Zealand Maori. I admire these people and see a lot of great wonder in how they show their culture in art and music. As my perceptions develop I am including a combination of 2 styles within Western fine art because what is common to all people is the want for culture, they want to worship something greater than ourselves and to tell the story of what our culture says.

The Maori art symbolism

The Mangopare Shark in the Maori world symbolizes natural abundance, strength, agility, and determination.

These predators’ functions (symbolized in the Koru pattern as a backbone) were respected. Maori warriors sought to emulate them on the battlefield to meet their goals.

The wave motion in the design is symbolic of the backbone movement generating forward motion toward the desired prey. Finding true knowledge and wisely applying it leads to a wish fulfilled.

My reasons for journeying into indigenous art forms

I am curious about all mankind’s philosophies and reasons for believing what we do about our beginnings. How do we express our beliefs in the art world?

My goal is to take my findings and blend multiple art disciplines into a mix of expressions to honor Jesus the founder and maker of all. Jesus came to restore what is lost. Without condemnation, He gives all mankind the hope and revelation of our true roots. God loves me without condemnation. He loves indigenous people without condemnation. It is my firm belief God wants to give us all a revelation of a spirit world that is greater than what we already know.

My quest is to explore and create what I find in cultures and blend through multiple art disciplines. To show what is true and shine a light on the deception that is invading what God made to be good for our planet.
