Time management leads to success for a creative
Herons show why dreams need time management!
These White Faced Heron are examples supporting this blog. The Heron have to be patient and persevere to catch a feed of whitebait. It knew where the food was, it knew what it was looking for and with vision in mind, it waited patiently for the opportunity. I noted it never complained while waiting.
Why dreamers need time management disciplines.
It has been months since I have played the Blogger, but that doesn’t mean my head has been silent regards managing time.
Many dreams, new meetings and inspired insights about visions and dreams cause me to wonder. “Will I live long enough to create these inspired images I want to paint”? It’s a daunting and exciting problem to have. Only after I am learning to time manage better will I become more efficient.
I guess all creatives have the same dilemma! Too many ideas to create and not enough time to produce. I get halfway through one then start another until I have a studio of incomplete works. Now that is not good discipline.
This dilemma is embedded in all aspects of living a successful life.
Today’s example. I have an amazing idea and as I start it I know I tomorrow there will be another, maybe better! If I don’t start with the first, this will cause distractions from future goals hence the need for discipline and work on the first idea.
So how do you discipline yourself to manage better?
Problem. Uploading images and text to a website marketing tool.
I had uploaded heaps of products and then realized we need to add an inventory product code. Bah!!! A quick reconciliation with my alter ego, humble pie, dig deep and plow on. Go through every page again. More sleep deprivation. This learning curve instructed me to be wiser next time …. plan with my new knowledge.
Thanx Linda, for the pointers. The answer is to ask many questions, take notes, do a little more research and follow what advice you are given.
Get rid of ideas that don’t support the end goals and don’t congregate with people who don’t support or help you to make your goals.
If you are a person of active faith make sure you talk to God in the process. He is so resourceful and will lead you to the resources of people, books, education, disciplines, insights or inspired dreams to make more quickly a final result. It will be advice well-received, leading to a deep satisfaction of purpose.
Be open to learning with the enthusiasm of a child. If you know it all then you have already regressed because there is always more. You can still have the heart of a child as a 90-year-old. The aging suit might tell a different story but a hungry heart will have a continual feast.
Populating our website with the product, while learning WordPress, added long hours of sleeplessness and created new skill to learn. Be more disciplined with healthy physical and mental activities to avoid added stresses to mind and body.
Now, having a pretty good handle on the process of making a vision work I will look at teaching an employee skills to double the productivity and give me more freedom to paint. Without using my gifts as a creative there would be no industry, no vision, no future, no employment, no income and something good would perish.
Employment is like having a family with all its lessons to be learned. Love and look after those you employ and the journey will be sweeter, adding a lot of personal fulfillment to many lives.
Unashamed, I thank God for this insight. The discipline to carry it out with right resources of people, time management, finances, and education must be implemented.
I am time managing myself better with staff.
The reason. While others are about their tasks I want to get back into the studio and finish 2 paintings. On completion, a ferry trip is planned to Tiritiri Matangi Island for stage two of my book “The Joys of Tiritiri Matangi Island 1”. I am preparing to publish a unique coffee table book depicting the recovery of native bush, flora, fauna and our ecological. This trip will fulfill an interest with night shots of Penguin’s, Kiwi and Weta’s, and any other nocturnal antics that creatures do while most of us dream dreams. I think the night sky and lighthouse might spark some creativity for two or three night images in the book. What do you think?
Reading between the lines.
As you read these blogs you will see many projects needing good management. I trust you will further appreciate why time management needs discipline.
It is the same for any project and discipline should always be tempered with patience and perseverance, hence the White Faced Heron!
